Woven Portrait (France), ca. 1771

This is a Woven portrait. It was designed by Philippe de la Salle. It is dated ca. 1771 and we acquired it in 1938. Its medium is silk and its technique is 4 & 1 satin with discontinuous supplementary wefts bound on the front in plain weave by a supplementary warp. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Erskine Hewitt. It is credited Bequest of Erskine Hewitt.
