On the exterior of strainer: [1] “J / B / C / O” around an urn in a diamond, impressed (maker's mark) [2] Bearded man facing left with number “1” within octagon, impressed (standard mark, Paris, France, 1819–1838) [3] Medusa head, impressed (guarantee mark, medium objects, Paris, France 1819–1838)
