Chest (USA)

We have 3 images of Chest (USA) .

An upright, rectangular mahogany storage chest features brass footings and two shallow drawers along the bottom surmounted by a drop front panel. The rich, vibrant wood is highlighted in the larger top section emphasizing the swirling pattern of the wood grain. The drawers each feature two gilt bronze circular pulls, one on either side of centered lily-of-the-valley escutcheons (flat piece of ornamentation around a keyhole). The upper panel is accented by a subtle inlay of two parallel light wood bands around the edges, with a gilt bronze escutcheon centered at the top in the form of a trophy. The top appears slightly darker in color, with a simlar inlay pattern. An arched, gilt bronze handle can be seen on the left side, along with a horizontal indentation, possibly along the veneer covering adjoining pieces of the chest. Two paw feet with gilt foliate decoration anchor the chest in the front below a black and gold band; a turned rear foot is barely visible in the back left corner.
