Drawing, Design for a Woven Fabric Motif
This is a Drawing. It is dated 1820–40 and we acquired it in 1924. Its medium is brush and gouache on brown oiled translucent paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
These vivid designs show three interpretations of the paisley motif. While two are firmly planted on their bases, the third is just beginning to break away, retaining only the suggestion of a stem.
