Drawing, Design for Woven Shawl with Paisley Motifs
This is a Drawing. It is dated 1825–50 and we acquired it in 1924. Its medium is brush and gouache on brown oiled translucent paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
One motif employed by European designers to imitate Kashmiri originals is the coif boteh, a main cone accompanied by an independent floral stem arching over it, called a raceme.
