Print, The Vow of Jephthah

This is a Print. It was engraved by Gerard Jean Baptiste Scotin, the Younger. It is dated 1725–45 and we acquired it in 1921. Its medium is hand-colored etching with watercolor on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

This object was donated by Sarah Cooper Hewitt and Eleanor Garnier Hewitt. It is credited Gift of Eleanor and Sarah Hewitt.

It is inscribed

At bottom left: "Jephte"; bottom right: "Avec privilege du Roy." Signed in reverse on a piece of armor, in the right foreground: "Scotin Sc." Line along left edge.
