Covered Porringer Porringer
This is a porringer. It was created by Claude Laubreaux. It is dated ca. 1750 and we acquired it in 1911. Its medium is pewter. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Pewter, an amalgam of base metals such as tin and copper, imitated silver forms and decoration in the same way that faience or earthenware echoed porcelain designs. (Tools for the Table, 1993).
