Mount (France), ca. 1820
This is a Mount. It is dated ca. 1820 and we acquired it in 1904. Its medium is bronze. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Gilded furniture mounts served as jewelry-like embellishments for fine furniture. Many ateliers, or workshops, with talented modelers, casters, chasers and gilders produced mounts in a wide variety of classical patterns in early nineteenth century France.
