Fragments (Spain)

This is a Fragments. It is dated 15th–16th century and we acquired it in 1902. Its medium is silk, metallic thread and its technique is two integrated structures: 5-harness satin patterned by plain weave (lampas). It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by John Pierpont Morgan. It is credited Gift of John Pierpont Morgan.

Woven inscription (translated): "Glory to our master, the Sultan" and "The everlasting King."
