This object was donated by Samuel P. Avery. It is credited Gift of Samuel P. Avery.

Its dimensions are

L x W x D: 22.3 × 5.3 × 3.6 cm (8 3/4 × 2 1/16 × 1 7/16 in.)

It has the following markings

On reverse of stem: [1] script R over -762 in a rectangle, stamped (maker's mark; partially rubbed off.)

It is inscribed

On reverse of stem: [1] stippled above stamped mark: " J:J:E: " ; [2] below stamped mark, hand enscribed: "1762" [3] illegible inscription, possibly, "Paris Ex 89" or "Baur Ex 89" [4] probably additional inscription text obscured by base layer for accession number application
