Sidewall, Microcosmos
This is a sidewall. It was designed by BCXSY and manufactured by Calico Wallpaper. It is dated 2017 and we acquired it in 2018. Its medium is digital print on vinyl. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.
The "Microcosmos" design draws inspiration from the designers’ childhood memories of making bubble prints. The original documents are created by laying a sheet of paper over a tray of colored bubbles, with the design being transferred to the paper as the bubbles are popped. These prints are then photographed and manipulated in Photoshop to create interesting patterns, and then greatly enlarged to capture the subtle color variations and iridescence of the bubbles.
