Textile, Winding, 2014
This is a Textile. It was designed by Patricia Urquiola. It is dated 2014 and we acquired it in 2017. Its medium is 100% trevira cs polyester and its technique is plain weave with supplementary and eccentric weft patterning. It is a part of the Textiles department.
Patricia Urquiola’s textile collection for Kvadrat consists of six abstract textile designs which combine sophisticated colors, tactility and a strong sense of depth and volume. The collection, which includes velvets, woven upholsteries, and drapery sheers, features designs which introduce a quality of irregularity or randomness into the orderliness of woven structures.
In Winding, three differently colored stripes swerve slightly toward and away from one another. Set against a sheer background, this gives the illusion that some stripes are shadows of others. The technique is an update of eccentric weft tapestry, seen in pre-Columbian weaving. Selective interruption of the grid is a leitmotif Urquiola plays with thoughout this collection.
It is credited Gift of Kvadrat.
Its dimensions are
H x W: 354.3 × 323 cm (11 ft. 7 1/2 in. × 10 ft. 7 3/16 in.)
