Textile, School Days
This is a Textile. It was designed by Howard Low and produced by Associated American Artists. It is dated 1954 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is cotton and its technique is printed. It is a part of the Textiles department.
In Howard Low’s stylized School Days design, children walk, ride bicycles, and ride the bus to school. Their figures, rendered in line drawings and flat shapes, appear here in yellow, blue, green, black, and white on a red ground. The rudimentary lines are characteristic of Low’s Signature Fabrics designs for Associated American Artists.
This design in this colorway is currently represented in the museum’s collection (1994-38-13).
