Textile, Duck Blind
This is a Textile. It was designed by Albert John Pucci and produced by Associated American Artists. It is dated 1953 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is cotton and its technique is printed. It is a part of the Textiles department.
Duck Blind is an outdoorsy design from Albert John Pucci, the artist who spent his life in Brooklyn but also loved to paint in coastal Maine. In Pucci’s highly abstracted portrayal of the classic hunter’s cover-up, reeds protrude from rectangular masses in brown, mustard, peach, and off-white. Either the blinds are working, or it’s the ducks’ lucky day: the hunters are nowhere to be found.
This design in this colorway is currently represented in the museum’s collection (1994-38-11). Pucci’s aforementioned textile, Harvest (1994-38-9), is also included in the collection.
