Sidewall - Samples, European Wallpapers: Modern Designs
This is a Sidewall - samples. It was made by Wiener Werkstätte and distributed by Katzenbach and Warren, Inc.. It is dated ca. 1928 and we acquired it in 1969. Its medium is machine printed on paper. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.
The very stylized, minimal plant forms show a strong influence of Dagobert Peche, who began using these attenuated, gracefully curving forms in his metalwork in the 1920s. The severe coloring of the plant form against the pastel ground color creates a striking contrast and has a very crisp look.
It is credited Gift of Lois and William Katzenbach.
